My research has focused on the lived experiences of men and women who are denied marriage access. Marriage is an institution that has changed over time, and in many locales homosexual men and women are being excluded from participation. This exclusion is changing, however. My research looks at the feelings, emotions, and thoughts of those who are excluded from participation.

I have taught courses for the Psychology Department at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) including Social Psychology, Psychology of Human Relations, Introduction to Psychology, Child Development, and Developmental Psychology. I authored a Social Science Reasoning and Research course for NICC.
